IC:

Character name: Kotaro Minami
Fandom: Kamen Rider Black
Timeline: Post-series, but before the start of its sequel series, Black RX.
Age: Canon-wise, he should be 20!

~*Magical*~ abilities and strengths:
So one thing you should know about Kotaro! Thanks to Golgom, he's a cyborg. His body is reconstructed and was given enhancements. He's practically superhuman, which I think is the right word to describe it.

He is also infused with the Kingstone. It is a mysterious stone embued with great power, and is given exclusively to Century Kings, like Kotaro. The Kingstone also serves as his power source and a transformation trinket, enabling him to change into the Century King Black Sun/Kamen Rider Black. It even serves as a weapon, as it unleashes a powerful burst of energy towards the enemy. Sure enough, the Kingstone is his greatest strength. However, it is also his weak point. Damaging the stone will only put him at a disadvantage, and it may even kill him if his Kingstone is separated from his body or even destroyed. There are five Kingstones mentioned in the show. What Kotaro has implanted in him is the Stone of the Sun. (Hence one of the reasons why he is called Black Sun.)

It is shown in the series that while not transformed, he can still use some of his enhanced abilities like being able to pick up sounds from afar, adjusting his sight to see thing not visible to normal human vision, superhuman reflexes, strength and endurance, and super-fast healing (Not instantaneous, just fast.)

As Kamen Rider Black however, he is at full power. With even more abilities to boot. However, he can only use these abilities while he is in that form. Here's a list of Black's abilities that's used in battle.

Since Kotaro is a Century King, he is able to summon the Satan Saber, a sword forged by the Creation King for the Century Kings to use. It is demonstrated in the show that the sword has the power to shoot electric beams. However, since after Golgom's defeat, I don't think he'll be grabbing that sword once again after he threw it away. He can even ride a special, sentient, grasshopper-like motorcycle called Battle Hopper, and call it whenever it's needed. (Though... Battle Hopper got destroyed later in the show, so that's not going to happen as well.) It's also stated in the show Golgom's creations are given an extended 50,000 year lifespan. This may as well apply to Kotaro, due to his nature as a Century King.

Aside from his superhuman abilities, Kotaro is able to do hand-to-hand combat, as well as combat while riding on his motorbike. Kotaro can also play soccer, and can throw out a really mean kick that could score goals.

How would they use their abilities?:
TO DEFEAT GOLGOM FOR JUSTICE!!

Actually he'll use his abilities whenever trouble ensues, and the situation calls for it. He won't transform into Black unless something really, really, really dangerous happens. If that something was really a Golgom plot or even something as evil as Golgom, then he won't hesitate, and will definitely put a stop to it.

Appearance:
  • Kotaro's around six foot tall, has black hair, and has an average build. In the show he's usually seen wearing a jacket with a t-shirt worn underneath, denim pants, running shoes, and leather fingerless gloves.
  • As Kamen Rider Black, his appearance would be that of a humanoid grasshopper. True to his name, Black's body armor is... of course, black in color. Has red and yellow stripes that can be seen around his neck, wrists and ankles, large red bug-like eyes, a metal plating around the mouth area, antennae on the head, and embedded on the left side of his chest is Golgom's insignia. Brown-colored muscle fibers can be seen around the gaps of his armor. And of course we shouldn't forget the most important equipment for Kamen Riders, the Rider belt! And his belt comes with a Kingstone fixed at the center of the buckle, along with some rather colorful-looking buttons decorated at the sides.

Background/Personality:
It is said that once in every fifty millennia, a new Creation King, leader of a secretive and terrifying cult named Golgom, must take over his predecessor's throne. And when the time comes, they must select two potential candidates, transform them into Century Kings, and let them fight to the death to become the next Creation King. And when that's done, they will proceed with their plans for world domination.

Kotaro may have been rather unfortunate during his life. Three years after he was born, his parents died in an accident. Though he may be orphaned, Dr. Soichiro Akizuki, an archaeologist and close family friend, decided to take Kotaro into his family, and treated him like his own. During that time, he has developed a close relationship with his step-siblings, Nobuhiko and Kyoko. It was a good life for him, a peaceful life.

And that peacefulness would eventually be broken by the time he and his stepbrother has come of age.

It was somehow mere coincidence that Kotaro and Nobuhiko would share the same birth date, as both were born on the day a solar eclipse happened. But to those from the shadows of Golgom, it was a sign. A sign that they were destined to rule the universe, that they were destined to become the next Creation King. And on their 19th birthday celebration, it was that time where both Kotaro and Nobuhiko's lives would change forever. And it all started when grasshoppers suddenly swarmed around their party. Everyone except Kotaro, his stepbrother, and his friends, weren't fazed by the swarm however. Questioning about these strange events happening on their celebration, he and Nobuhiko decided to investigate. That is... until they were abducted by the high priests of Golgom.

By that time, Kotaro woke up to find out that his body was modified and reconstructed, to serve fit for the next Creation King. This goes the same for his stepbrother. And they became the Century Kings Black Sun and Shadow Moon. Then, the three high priests were about to move on to the final stage of their transformation, to erase their memories of their human life, and to brainwash their soon-to-be Creation King. However, Kotaro's stepfather barged in and interfered with their brainwashing operation. It was a chance for Kotaro and Nobuhiko to escape, but the latter was knocked out during the operation, which gave Kotaro no choice, but to flee and leave his stepbrother behind. It was an act that Kotaro deeply regretted.

Unfortunately for him, Golgom was on his tail. And while Kotaro was being chased around the city, the high priests tried to convince their Century King to return to them. But despite their persistent attempts, he refuses. However, just as he was cornered by the high priests, Kotaro was able to fully transform into his Century King form, Black Sun. He used his powers to fend for himself until he got his chance to escape once more.

Questions about these strange events keep swimming in Kotaro's mind as he eventually returned to the Akizuki household. He hoped to find his stepfather, who he thought may have all the answers. Instead, he found a letter coming from him, warning Kotaro to leave their home immediately, and that he would explain everything to him once they meet in a safer location. Shortly after, Kyoko and Nobuhiko's girlfriend, Katsumi arrived home as well. This makes matters worse for Kotaro as he soon discovers his inhuman strength, reminding him that he was no longer human. This troubles Kotaro, as the two were unaware of his current state. Not wanting them to get involved, he quickly leaves home and heads off to where his stepfather his hiding.

It was then revealed by Dr. Akizuki that he joined Golgom all because they've agreed to fund for the excavation costs, and becoming a member is the exchange for that. That and Kotaro's parents were not involved in an accident. Rather, they were murdered by Golgom after his father, also an archaeologist like Akizuki, refused to agree with their deal. He was disgusted by this revelation, by how his stepfather was willing to rid of his sons' humanity and freedom to an evil group like Golgom. All of this, it's not what he wanted. He never asked for this to happen. But as soon as they've ended their conversation, Golgom's Spider Mutants have ambushed their hideout, and later proceed to kill Akizuki who had outlived his usefulness in their organization. Watching his stepfather's death with his own eyes stricken him with grief, at the same time fueled his rage over Golgom. Kotaro could not forgive them for what they have done to him, and to his family.

And by that, Kotaro swore to defeat Golgom and stop them from their cruel acts. To ensure that the people's peace and freedom would be defended, and that justice would be served. For that, he abandoned his Century King name and took up the title of "Kamen Rider" instead. Golgom however was not pleased by this, seeing that one of their creations, their Century King, turn against them, and branded him as traitor. And from there began Kotaro's battle against Golgom and their mutant army, as well as his quest to rescue his stepbrother.

As time passes, Kotaro manages to foil every Golgom plot. He even gained new allies during his battles, like Ryusuke Taki of Interpol and child warriors of the Golgom Shonen-Tai. At the same time, the recurring Creation King decided to awaken the rebellious Sword Saint Birugenia, much to the high priests' dismay, after sealing him in a coffin for 30,000 years. With Birugenia awakened, he was proven to be a rather formidable foe to Kotaro, and gave him quite a lot of trouble. But during these battles, Kotaro still worries about Nobuhiko and how he'll end up if he wasn't able to save him. Kotaro feared that the time would come when he and Nobuhiko will face each other and duel to the death, which they were fated to do as Century Kings. He dreads for that time to happen.

But his fear would soon become a reality, as after the high priests' desperate attempts, Nobuhiko awakened as the fully transformed Century King Shadow Moon. And with his memories of his human life erased, Shadow Moon thinks nothing more but to defeat Black Sun and become the next Creation King. With Shadow Moon's awakening, Golgom had risen from the shadows and revealed themselves to the world, putting the people of Japan to live in fear. The worse has yet to come for Kotaro, as a new era of battle has begun between him and Golgom. But despite his fears and doubts, Kotaro was still determined to save Nobuhiko. He tried to bring his stepbrother back to his senses whenever they meet, even if he knew it would be useless to do so. At one point, Shadow Moon was close to defeating Kotaro... until Kyoko got in the way. Shadow Moon could not strike any further with the two together, especially with Kyoko around, and decided to fall back. After witnessing that act, Kotaro was sure that there's still hope in saving his stepbrother.

Then came the time when the recurring Creation King had finally revealed his presence. It was Kotaro's 20th birthday, and the Creation King had decided to send a telepathic message to his Century Kings to follow their destiny and engage in battle. Even if he refused to fight, Kotaro grew uncertain, and could sense that their final days are drawing near. But after encountering Shadow Moon once more, Kotaro has made his decision. Even if he still dreads the idea, he has no other choice. To fight Shadow Moon is the only choice he has left. But even so, Kotaro's determination to save Nobuhiko still remains.

Out of concern, Kotaro requested Kyoko and Katsumi to leave Japan if anything were to happen to him. Sure enough, by the time Kotaro and Shadow Moon engage in another a fierce battle; the latter struck a fatal blow on Kotaro's Kingstone and was presumed to be dead, with his body being carried away by the sea. Eventually the Whale Mutant, a Golgom mutant who betrayed its creators and was rescued by Kotaro, found his body and was later brought back to life. Upon his revival, his strength has increased in power, and becomes determined to fight once more. He promises to end Golgom's reign of terror as he proceeds to enter into the cult's lair. This was the start of their final battle.

As they confront each other, Kotaro witnesses Shadow Moon's heartless intentions as he destroys everything in his path. This was enough to convince Kotaro that he could no longer see Nobuhiko in Shadow Moon. And now his only choice is to defeat him in order to protect the planet's peace. But as Shadow Moon throws in his attack, his motorcycle Battle Hopper comes to Kotaro's aid and shielded him at the cost of its life. With Battle Hopper's death, Kotaro swore to avenge it, taking up the Satan Saber that Shadow Moon left behind, and confronted the other Century King for the final time.

With Shadow Moon weakened by Battle Hopper's self-sacrifice, Kotaro tries to convince Shadow Moon to return to his human self for one last time, until he slashes Shadow Moon's Kingstone with the Satan Saber just right before he strikes. Shadow Moon was defeated, at the same time what remained of Nobuhiko within him died as well. After all those months of battle, he was unable to save Nobuhiko. And with all the mutants defeated, and the high priests gone, now what's left of Golgom is the recurring Creation King.

Kotaro then confronts the Creation King. And with the Satan Saber on his hand, he defeats the Creation King, which marks the end of Golgom's reign. And with the downfall of Golgom, peace returns to the planet once more. As for Kotaro, after he sent Kyoko and Katsumi away, and after his stepbrother's passing, there was no one else to greet him at home.

He was all alone.

He then decides to leave the city, wanting to start fresh and anew, and leaving all the good and painful memories behind. But even with Golgom out of the way, Kotaro is still willing to fight as long as he knows there's still evil in the world. As Kamen Rider Black, he will still fight on!

And then his world somehow went kaboom and Kotaro got himself aboard the SS Thor. :U

Kotaro is... like what most generic superheroes are. He's the kind of guy who would fight for what he believes is right. A man with a strong sense of justice, loving peace, hating evil, and all that jazz. He is also selfless, and is willing to reach out to others or risk his life to protect the people around him. He's also a pretty enthusiastic guy, and remains a positive attitude most of the time, as he perks up to anyone who are down or uneasy, though he may come off as naive to some people. But yeah, most of the time he's shown to be very open and friendly. Seriously, he's the kind of guy you'd enjoy hanging out with. Oh right, he's also pretty good with handling kids, and usually comes off as an older brother figure to them.

Often times he is shown to be a bit dense, maybe a little absent-minded too. In one episode, Kyoko did state that Kotaro is not very knowledgable at some of the simplest things, as demonstrated by Kotaro as he overwaters a poor cactus without knowing it would kill it. But hey, he's not exactly an idiot either. He's smart enough to trap a mutant just to give him and his friends enough time to escape. And he's also smart enough to outwit some arrogant smartass who tried to make the people he cared for turn against him.

The most notable trait about Kotaro however, is his determination. Really, the amount of his sheer guts is so, so great, that not even death could stop this guy! He won't stop until he's done dealing with Golgom's evil plans. And he won't even give up until he finds and rescues his stepbrother. And even if his stepbrother has turned into some evil soon-to-be ruler of the universe, Kotaro could still see a slimmer of hope in getting Nobuhiko back to his senses, which makes him even more determined. So yeah, he's a stubborn guy, and would give his all to finish the job. However, Kotaro knows that not everything can be reversed once it happens. Like the fact that he knew defeating Golgom won't return everything to the way it was, because by the end of the day, he is still a cyborg, and he wholly accepts that fact. Still, that doesn't stop him from fighting against whatever evil he meets.

Have you read up on how the game works?: My character can communicate via FlamingFerret plug-in. Also they can earn cash by earning them in jobs, missions, or just mooch them off from someone. But come on, Kotaro would never do the last bit. ;)

1st person sample:
[The video feed opens with a young man looking curiously at the camera. But it takes him a while to realize that it's doing a live record now, as he notices a small red dot blinking at the side.]

...Ah, it's on isn't it?

[Suddenly he bows his head a bit, both hands closed, and wearing a rather apologetic look on his face.]

Sorry, sorry! I didn't mean to disturb you, really! It's just... This is really new to me, so I can't say I'm used to it yet.

[He'll sheepishly scratch his head and grins once he's done apologizing.]

Ah, before you go, would you mind telling me where I can stop the recording? ...Eh? You mean this button, rig--

[The feed cuts off and ends here at the sound of a click.]

3rd person sample:
It was quite a shock to Kotaro as he found out that his home, the planet he swore to protect, was completely and ultimately destroyed. It was… rather unexpected. Why now, he thought, did it end up like this? How come he survived this? Could the Earth’s end be Golgom’s doing?

Kotaro thought about it for a moment, and immediately shook his head. No, impossible. He had just destroyed Golgom not too long ago. All the members of Golgom have died from the destruction of their lair. Did the Creation King have one last trick up on his sleeve before he defeated him? Kotaro couldn’t be too sure. But one thing’s for certain, the Earth is destroyed. And there was nothing he could do about it.

As he walked, he later caught sight of the starry, night sky just right outside the window he was standing next to. But Kotaro paused for a moment, as he realized he was not looking at the night sky. No, he was looking at space, the galaxy, the universe.

It was the first time he had seen the universe like this. He had used to see them on pictures, books, or on television, but not up-close. He watched as different celestial bodies pass by while the ship moved. Truly it was a breath-taking sight for Kotaro. He never felt this much awe before.

“This is amazing…”

And then, something came into Kotaro’s mind. The mere fact that this spaceship he’s in, brought along different people whose planets too were destroyed. He realized that, he was not alone in this. And right now, they may be struggling to cope with the situation and move on. He can’t give up just yet. And with that in mind, Kotaro resolved to do the same. Besides, he wanted to leave all these painful memories, and begin anew with his life without Golgom on his tail after all.

Questions?: I hope this app form is not part of a Golgom plot, is it?
